Is This the Next Big Site on the Internet?

I thought I should reflect over something that can be “the next big thing” on the Internet.  I’m not talking about some lame new “get rich quick” opportunity but about something that could be a major player on the Internet for a lot of people in the (near?) future.  The site I refer to is Leapfish.  I have done some research on that site, and they have some really cool features.  If you are the kind of person that likes to do your home work when you research a topic, you probably search at a few engines out there: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing etc.  Then you also know that they all have different algorithms to index your search.  With other words, what’s on Google’s page one isn’t necessary on Yahoo’s page one and so forth.  So the first thing that I really like about Leapfish is that they pull out just as fast as any other search engine the results for your search for Google, Yahoo! and Bing in one spot, and it’s easy to.  If that not all, they also have a more advance  search search option that not just pull up the sites related with the best pr, quality score etc, but they pull out the most resent stuff related to your search.

They are up to date on world news by Yahoo, Celebrity news from US, Sports news from Yahoo, Mashable for the social media news and action.  And last they have most popular videos related to your search,  you just take your mouse over the video and it start plying right away there and then.  Normally it will take you to you tube or where ever the video source are, and here you will find the most popular video related to your search.

How ever, the thing that really got my attention was the possibility to share everything in any category with the top ten social networks out there today.  When you take your mouse over any news article or what ever you will see a “share” button.  The ten sites are: twitter, Facebook, Digg, Mixx, StumbleUpon, Reddit Technorati, Delicious, Yahoo Buzz, and Kaboodie.  So what ever you search fro you can share it to all your friends, followers, leads etc, you do the math.

Conclusion:  This is a pretty good site, easy to navigate and a lot of good quality content.  But the reason why I started this post with this could be “the next big thing”  is because of what I found when I saw what the have accomplished in less than 18 months.  As you can see for the picture on this post this site is no ranked global around 10 00 for the 3 months, ranks around 7000 yesterday March 4 2010.  And the ranking is the US is around 2000.  As you can see from this stats, this site is moving very fast, and I will keep a close look at this site in the near future. PS! They grew about the same in less that 18 months than Google did in 4 years.

To your ongoing online success

What Is The Best Way To Connect Internet TV To PC?

TV is undoubtedly getting to be a cosmopolitan culture. In fact, there are now different forms of TV transmission. There’s the conventional broadcast, cable, satellite and more recently Internet TV. The choice of which form to adopt is largely individual and lifestyle-dependent but the current rage is in Internet Satellite TV.

Internet is accessed through a computer. As such, Internet Satellite TV is inherently TV on computer, unless it is further channeled out of the computer onto other devices or displays. It is important to note though, that the internet is not the only possible feed for TV on computer. For example, when a computer is equipped with a TV tuner card or box, it can be plugged with a TV signal cable to function as a TV. The signal cable feed can be broadcast, cable, dish satellite or internet satellite. When supported with the necessary software, the computer can also multi-task as a TV and a computer simultaneously.

There are basically 2 versions of Internet Satellite TV. The first one is the websites that operate satellite TV channels on the internet. They generally provide rather closed selections of program that adhere to their own specific theme or purpose. In other words, it’s not full-fledged TV. The second one is the service providers which access various satellite TV stations from all over the world and then streamed them over the internet. They do this on a commercial basis and are definitely complete TV, and then some.

Specifically, Internet Satellite TV on PC is satellite TV streamed directly to your computer over the internet. Again, they could involve software, hardware or a combination of both. Of these, the most popular is the software-only option because of practical reasons such as ease, immediacy and cost.

There are a handful of such software packages retailing over the net and it is pragmatic to assume that a good portion of them would be scams. Given the nature of the product, it’s well-advised to turn to those review sites for some professional indication. Of course, they will most certainly make referrals and recommendations in hope of eventual commissions or other forms of brokerage.

Internet Explorer 8 – Any Good?

Many people use Internet Explorer to surf the Internet. It is easy because it is installed on all Window’s computers (which is what the majority of computer users use). They simply click the blue E and many people do not even realize they have another choice. The following is a basic description for both browsers that might help you decide which one you would prefer.

*The Pros*
Before version 8 was released, there would not have been much competition. Version 8 has greatly improved Internet Explorer’s functionality and security. Internet Explorer is now considered much safer and the features are much more expanded.

IE added some unique features to their browser you won’t find elsewhere. The accelerators are probably the most popular and beneficial. These provide a one click access to some of the most common searches on the Internet. You can now highlight text on the browser and quick jump to a website preset with search results for the selected text. For example, with two clicks you can look up the definition of a word or the location of an address with multiple search providers and in a new tab. This not only saves time, but opening another tab avoids losing your spot. For usability and ease of use, Internet Explorer is top rate.

*The Cons*
The speed is still an issue. It’s many features and programming have created a long time reputation for Internet Explorer. Both downloading and running this program has been known to be more complicated and take longer. Furthermore, since Internet Explorer is so tightly integrated to the Window’s operation system, many complicated problems can occur during an upgrade, even if the upgrade in uninstalled. IE has been known to cause computers to crash after upgrading to version 8.

As far as features are concerned, oddly, Microsoft has seemed to build a reputation to lag behind other browsers. Perhaps it is because they is too consumed with building patches for problems and security threats that come with each new version of Internet Explorer, and the Windows operating systems. Another reason could be that IE is used by the largest group of computer users, especially those who are not familiar with the computers, the Internet, and downloads. These people use Internet Explorer either because it the easiest option (any others would require a download), or they don’t know about the others.

For whatever reason, IE was the last version to adopt tabbed browsing, and still does not have some very basic features available on most other browsers. For example, It does not allow tabs to be moved into a separate window, and windows to become tabs of other windows. It also does not offer to remember passwords on every log in page. IE8 is much better than previous versions, so Microsoft may be breaking their tradition of being behind soon.

What Is Internet TV?

In the days of high tech entertainment, it was inevitable that Internet TV would take off in the long run. This is a service that is available to web users and includes RTE players within Ireland as well as HULU or Revision 3 IN USA. Each locality will have its own version of the service. For example Australia has ABC iView whereas the UK has ITV Player systems.

More information on the services

The facility allows users to view archives from the mainstream televisions. In some cases people are looking to watch programs that were missed on the main television screens. A case in point is the inauguration of the first African American president which was viewed across the world thanks to the ability of Internet TV to overcome time zone variations. The BBC iPlayer has been particularly successful with flagship programs such as “The Apprentice”. At one point it was taking up to 5% of the entire UK traffic. Those are figures that started to traumatize the private sector because they knew that it was only a matter of time before they would be kicked off the waves.

The information is transmitted through signals that are varied depending on the IP address of the user. For example the BBC world service will not allow international visitors to use the iPlayer facility. They can only read about the events. The private sector was particularly concerned that the BBC was able to provide these services free of charge. There is really no reason why the customers would continue to pay for commercial services when they had high quality programs on demand through the internet. This created a political storm and there was much discussion about the possibility of banning the license fee.

In any case the use of Internet TV has transformed the world of television. Sports events such as the World Cup and Wimbledon can be viewed at a later stage if the fans do not wish to play exorbitant subscription fees to digital television companies. It has also opened up the choices for the viewers. If they do not wish to watch a particular program, they can always go on the internet and watch an alternative. If this method of accessing programs becomes widespread, then the television industry will have to reform significantly. They will need to give users very good reasons for watching the standard television schedule instead of going online for their programming.

Computer Running Slow? Take The Computer Performance Test

My wife has always said that I am impatient person however when I could make my morning coffee in the time it took my ancient Toshiba laptop to fire up I thought there had to be a problem or two. Sure the laptop is far from cutting edge technology but I do remember a day when it performed quite well and I have been reluctant to upgrade it because of the hope that one day it will be returned to it’s former glory.

When I say I thought there was a problem or two I could not have been further from the truth. Try two thousand, eight hundred and fifty six problems! This was certainly a surprise to me and no wonder the poor old girl was having a hard time processing my requests. All of these errors where found after running a free registry scan and I am happy to report that even though my coffee making is not that slow the computer now beats me every morning without fail.

So where do these registry errors come from? I can only surmise that as the trusty laptop is used for mainly internet related chores that the majority of the errors came about from downloading programs and on occasion removing programs. I am also informed that registry errors can be the result of poorly written programs, they can also be deliberately written into programs by lovely people trying to ruin your day and also that removing programs by the conventional methods can leave files behind that are now defunct and can cause issues in the registry.

After running the scan I decided that something definitely needed to be done and I let the registry repair program do it’s magic and as I said things have improved out of sight. If you feel that your computer system is not it’s usual self and perhaps it is suffering from unexplained crashes or you are getting error messages more often than you get email I suggest you take a look at the program that I used to turn an old ailing laptop into a turbo charged pocket rocket! I am sure you will be surprised with the results.

Internet Defamation and Gripe Sites

Internet “gripe” sites have become very popular over the last three or four years, and they have taken many different forms. Some of these sites have offered students an opportunity to share random thoughts. Others have turned into a bashing forum for people to light into other people. Others still allow consumers to gripe about different businesses. Though it turns out these sites are completely legal, there are some reasons to take pause if you are posting on them. The law provides certain protections for the owners of these sites, but those protections are not ironclad. This is especially true in the changing world where internet laws are under siege.

Laws designed to shield site owners

One of the nice things about today’s internet law is that site owners are relatively insulated from litigation. They have a “shield”, so to speak, since the law does not allow for prosecution on the basis of simply providing a forum. The way these sites get away with this is relatively simple. They just put out the bulletin board and allow people to post thoughts on it. This puts the responsibility on the individuals doing the posting, since the law does not impute liability onto the site owner in most circumstances. Though many have tried, it is very difficult to get to a site owner based upon these principles.

Coming after site posters

Just because the site is insulated does not mean that individual posters are free to post what they want. Even anonymous posters can be held liable for their words if those words are defamatory to other people. In many instances, subpoenas have been served on the site, requiring the site owners to give up IP addresses on users. This can turn ugly for people who have been posting false statements, as they can be sued for libel as a result of their words.

Site owners and encouraging misconduct

Gripe sites have run into some trouble on the basis of “encouraging” certain kinds of postings. Though they are not civilly liable for defamation on the face, these individual site owners can be implicated if they encourage certain postings. This is where the law gets a bit murky, so site owners have to be very careful in how they craft their sites. Though they are not required to take down postings and they are not generally responsible for all defamation that takes place there, a site owner can have some liability if he is not careful.

The changing nature of internet law

Another thing to note is that the internet law is changing. The US Supreme Court and other federal courts are still relatively new to the proceedings and they are still learning how to apply the law. There is always a chance that the law could shift with judicial interpretation changing in time. This is something that site owners and internet posters alike must be aware of if they plan to test the difficult waters of internet gripe and borderline defamation.

Internet Explorer 8 Slow? Fix It Easily

Internet Explorer 8 is probably the most used internet browser among Windows users. But, although it is one of today’s best internet browsing softwares, it has some problems. One of them is running slow over time.

Why Explorer runs slow?

This problem can be caused by a number of reasons. Here is a list of the most common reasons that cause the Internet Explorer 8 slow problem:

Full Temporary file folder

Internet Explorer 8 saves lots of information and cashed pages in a temporary folder. Cleaning this folder will speed up your browsing experience. To do that, go to the Tools menu in IE, Go to “Internet Options” and press the “Delete” button in the “Browsing History” panel. This will clear Internet Explorer temporary folder.

Heavy loading home page

If your homepage is not google, than it may take time to load. This will cause Explorer to load slower and even freeze until the page loads. In order to fix that, go to the same “Internet Options” window as before and press the “Use blank” button. This should also help IE to load faster.

Unneeded toolbars

Extra toolbars can be the main reason for Explorer 8 slow problem. Remove any unneeded toolbar in order to make it easier for IE to load and run.

Registry Problems

The registry is the place Windows saves data that is vital for it to function properly. If the registry contains errors and invalid entries, it can cause lots of problems to Windows and to all of the applications that are installed on it. Most of the time Internet Explorer 8 runs slow because of registry problems.

Career Aptitude Test – Take Some Tests and Choose Your Career

There are many among us who are quite confused regarding their career choices. The biggest fear that most of us face is that of getting stuck with the kind of work that gives us migraine. The last thing that we need is a job that we hate doing. However if we don’t know what job to take up in the first place then the matter turns a little more disturbing than it already is.

This is where a career aptitude test helps out. These career tests can be found online, and take anything between 2 to 10 minutes to fill out. Most of these questions are asking for the candidate’s opinion regarding various issues and situations. An aptitude test basically helps the examiner to realize if the candidate is liberal or conservative, logical or mechanical, patient, or restless, introvert or extrovert and other similar deductions in his or her outlook.

The candidate’s answers to those questions help to deduce suggestions regarding the most suitable job choice for him or her, based on various career choices presented at the end of the test. The most interesting thing about these career tests is that no answer is a wrong answer to any of the questions posed. The answers are analyzed objectively and the relevant career choices are given without any bias.

Career aptitude tests can be very brief and demand monosyllabic answers only. Others are a little more extensive and ask for longer statements stating specific opinions and points. The whole idea is to have an overall idea about the candidate’s thought process.

Although it is advisable to give adequate thought to the result presented by such tests, it is not necessary for the candidate to base all his or her career decisions based on these tests results. It is only there to give one a rough idea of which field or subject would be apt for him or her to step into as a profession. After all those who are satisfied with their vocation are some of the happiest people in the world.

There is no greater pain than that of being stuck in a profession that you do not enjoy doing. It is all okay to earn money to make a living. But if you compromise with the kind of work that you like in order to pursue a job that pays better, then you will be dissatisfied with it till you let it go for something you like doing as a job.

Career aptitude tests are sometimes successful in clearing confusions regarding what to do after academics. Sometimes they also reveal hidden potential that the candidate was not aware off until he or she took the test. If you do not want to pay for any of these tests, you can simply avail the one that are offered free on the Internet. These take no time at all to write and can be accessed at any time.

Internet TV: Should Everyone Get It?

Internet TV is basically a set of TV programs that are available to watch over the internet. These are usually programs which already have been aired on a local television channel. The good thing about internet TV is that it gives you the flexibility of watching programs that you may have missed watching on local television. These episodes are referred to as catch up TV. Internet TV programs are actually made available for audiences who are unable to watch the live broadcast of a particular program. Furthermore, audiences who access internet videos are able to watch these programs for free although they have to wait for a couple of weeks before the video is made available for them. At the same time, you will not be able to watch the initial airing of a program online since there are no copies of them yet. Sometimes, they are only available for streaming. There might be missing episodes as well since videos are often replaced by newer programs or episodes. It still depends on the network if they will keep a particular episode.

Choosing internet TV over watching regular television actually depends on your lifestyle. If you prefer waiting for a particular video or program to air then internet TV is not for you. This goes the same if you like watching sports because live sports programs are rarely aired live online. On the other hand, if you are the kind of person who prefers to sit in front of your computer or laptop then internet TV is for you. This is applicable for those who are in the office and want to spend their break times in a more entertaining manner. Also, take note that there are programs that are not available locally. They can only be viewed on the internet and this is where internet television comes in. An example of these programs would be programs that are only broadcasted in other countries. This works for those individuals who like watching programs of other countries since these internet videos already include subtitles to cater to audiences who do not know the native language spoken by the characters.

The good thing about regular television is that you can watch a particular video real-time. This gives some people the feeling that they are part of a big group since other people are watching it at the same time as them. If you are also the type who prefers to watch a video with your family then regular television is for you. In some cases, if you are the kind of person who does not have the luxury of time to wait for a program then internet TV is highly recommended. Internet TV has a lot to offer as oppose to regular television programming but then again it all depends on a person’s lifestyle. The good thing about internet TV is that regardless of a person’s lifestyle, it is still an ideal option during unexpected events that an individual missed a show. So is internet TV for you?
